How to measure exterior linear dimensions

Bag Diagram

STEP 1. Measure the length, height and width of your packed suitcase in inches (or cm) with a tape measure. Include any handles or wheels in your measurements.

STEP 2. Add the three measurements together. The sum of the three measurements is your bag's linear dimensions.

STEP 3. Compare your luggage's linear dimensions with Talofa Airways allowable dimensions below.

Checked bag and cargo maximum weight & linear dimension

Any one piece over 30kilograms (66 lbs) or 80 inches (200 cm) linear dimensions are not permitted as checked baggage/cargo and must be repacked under the allowance limit.

EXCESS BAGGAGE

Excess baggage fee at check-in applies when:

1. The permitted free baggage allowance (20kgs/44lbs) or linear dimensions limit (65 inches/165 cm) for your first piece has been exceeded.

2. You have any additional baggage(s) to be checked in.

If your first piece is over 20 kgs / 44 lbs (30 kgs/66 lbs maximum per piece) or linear dimension over 62 inches / 156cm (80 inches/200 cm maximum per piece), whichever cost is greater will be charged to the passenger.

When calculating the charge for excess dimensions, the Total Dimensional Weight is first calculated. Dimensional Weight (lbs) is calculated using the following formula, where the total is always rounded up to the next whole number: (Length x Width x Height) ÷ 166

Compare the Actual Weight and Dimensional Weight and use whichever is greater (excess for the first piece or any additional pieces).
