How to measure exterior linear dimensions

Bag Diagram

STEP 1. Measure the length, height and width of your packed suitcase in inches (or cm) with a tape measure. Include any handles or wheels in your measurements.

STEP 2. Add the three measurements together. The sum of the three measurements is your bag's linear dimensions.

STEP 3. Compare your luggage's linear dimensions with Talofa Airways allowable dimensions below.

Checked bag and cargo maximum weight & linear dimension

Any one piece over 28 kilograms (62 lbs) or 75 inches (190 cm) linear dimensions are not permitted as checked baggage/cargo and must be repacked under the allowance limit.

Excess baggage fee

Excess baggage fee at check-in applies when the permitted allowance exceeds the free baggage allowance (20kgs/44lbs) or linear dimensions limit (75 inches).

Over 20 kgs (44 lbs) and up to 28 kgs (62 lbs) or linear dimension over 65 inches (165 cm) and up to 75 inches (190 cm), whichever cost is greater will be charged to the passenger. When calculating the charge for excess dimensions, the dimensional weight is first calculated.

Dimensional weight (lbs) is calculated using the formula: Total Dimensional Weight  = (L x W x H) ÷ 166

Compare the excess Actual Weight and excess Dimensional Weight and use whichever is greater:

1 lb - 13.99 lbs = US $12.40 / WS $30.00

14 lbs - 26.99 lbs = US $24.80 / WS $60.00

27 lbs - 45.99 lbs = US $50.00 / WS $121.00

46 lbs - 62 lbs = US $74.80 / WS $181.00 *Actual Weight cannot exceed 62lbs.

63 lbs - 84 lbs = US $100.00 / WS $242.00 *Applies to Dimensional Weight only.
